“Our hearts are restless until they rest in you, O Lord.”
St. Augustine, Confessions
Today’s Scriptures
TODAY IS THE MEMORIAL OF A GOOD FRIEND OF MINE, ST. AUGUSTINE OF HIPPO, ALSO A BROTHER BISHOP.
Bishop Zurek, A Reflection on Christian Life
today is now the one year anniversary of the posting of a letter of rebuke from bishop zurek to his own cathedral entitled, “a reflection on christian life”; given all that has occurred over this past year within our cathedral, diocese and world, i have to ask, “is it not time for our shepherd to ‘take up his cross’ and remove this letter from the diocesan website?”
Brothers and sisters:
Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the Gospel,
and not with the wisdom of human eloquence,
so that the cross of Christ might not be emptied of its meaning.
1 COR 1:17
THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF UNREST IN THE CATHEDRAL PARISH FOR THE LAST FEW MONTHS; ACTUALLY, IN REALITY, FOR SOME DECADES.
Bishop Zurek, A Reflection on Christian Life
can we trust that bishop’s zurek’s words reflect and bring about GOD’s justice and kindness?
R. The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.
For upright is the word of the LORD,
and all his works are trustworthy.
He loves justice and right;
of the kindness of the Lord the earth is full.
Psalm 33
THERE IS NO CIVILITY, NO TRUTH; PEOPLE FEEL FREE TO MAKE ANY AND EVERY ABSURD ACCUSATION TO PUT DOWN ANYONE WITH WHOM THEY DISAGREE.
Bishop Zurek, A Reflection on Christian Life
is the keeping of this letter on the diocesan website demonstrating vigilance in regards to the civility which our bishop desires?
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Be vigilant at all times and pray,
that you may have the strength to stand before the Son of Man.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
LUKE 21:36
WHAT HAS HAPPENED IN THE CATHEDRAL IS UNCONSCIONABLE. THE FOCUS ON CHRIST MUST BE RESTORED; THEN PEACE, HEALING AND TRANQUILITY WILL RETURN.
Bishop Zurek, A Reflection on Christian Life
along with the changes already made of rector and other staff, would not the removal of, “a reflection on christian life” from the diocesan website be the conscionable way to further add to the amount of “oil” that will restore the focus on CHRIST and promote the peace, healing and tranquility we at the cathedral are longing for?
The foolish ones, when taking their lamps, brought no oil with them, but the wise brought flasks of oil with their lamps.
MT 25:3-4
