Jerome (/dʒəˈroʊm/LatinEusebius Sophronius HieronymusGreek: Εὐσέβιος Σωφρόνιος Ἱερώνυμος; c. 347 – 30 September 420), also known as Jerome of Stridon, was a Latin priestconfessor, theologian, and historian; he is commonly known as Saint Jerome.

Devotion to sacred Scripture, a “living and tender love” for the written word of God: this is the legacy that Saint Jerome bequeathed to the Church by his life and labours.
