Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time

R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Stay awake and be ready!

For you do not know on what day your Lord will come.

R. Alleluia, alleluia.

MT 24:42A, 44
ENCYCLICAL LETTER
FRATELLI TUTTI
OF THE HOLY FATHER
FRANCIS
ON FRATERNITY AND SOCIAL FRIENDSHIP

CHAPTER ONE

DARK CLOUDS OVER A CLOSED WORLD

PANDEMICS AND OTHER CALAMITIES IN HISTORY

32. True, a worldwide tragedy like the Covid-19 pandemic momentarily revived the sense that we are a global community, all in the same boat, where one person’s problems are the problems of all. Once more we realized that no one is saved alone; we can only be saved together. As I said in those days, “the storm has exposed our vulnerability and uncovered those false and superfluous certainties around which we constructed our daily schedules, our projects, our habits and priorities… Amid this storm, the façade of those stereotypes with which we camouflaged our egos, always worrying about appearances, has fallen away, revealing once more the ineluctable and blessed awareness that we are part of one another, that we are brothers and sisters of one another”.[31]

Catholics in LOVE believe that our Church is composed of (Red)MAGAs, (White)Comfortables and (Blue) Socialists who are struggling with the idea, that although our nation has progressed beyond treating Catholic candidates in the same manner as “the first Catholic major-party presidential nominee, (who) was hounded by charges of ‘rum, Romanism and rebellion’“, the Church itself is “split between the two candidates, with 50% of Catholics backing Trump and 49% Biden“. We all became drowsy and fell asleep , thinking that “everyone seems to believe everything that appears on a social media page, and worse, may pass it on as truth”. Therefore we became parched, lifeless and without water; grieving like the rest, who have no hope, but we shall quickly be free from care if we realize “that no one is saved alone; we can only be saved together”, since we are “all in the same boat, where one person’s problems are the problems of all” !!!

Today’s Scriptures

…shall quickly be free from care;

WIS 6:15

R. (2b) My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord my God.

…parched, lifeless and without water.

PS 63:2

…grieve like the rest, who have no hope.

1 Thes 4:13

…all became drowsy and fell asleep.

MT 25:5
