Monday of the Thirty-third Week in Ordinary Time

R. Alleluia, alleluia.

I am the light of the world, says the Lord;

whoever follows me will have the light of life.

R. Alleluia, alleluia.

JN 8:12
ENCYCLICAL LETTER
FRATELLI TUTTI
OF THE HOLY FATHER
FRANCIS
ON FRATERNITY AND SOCIAL FRIENDSHIP

CHAPTER ONE

DARK CLOUDS OVER A CLOSED WORLD

AN ABSENCE OF HUMAN DIGNITY ON THE BORDERS

40. “Migrations, more than ever before, will play a pivotal role in the future of our world”.[42] At present, however, migration is affected by the “loss of that sense of responsibility for our brothers and sisters on which every civil society is based”.[43] Europe, for example, seriously risks taking this path. Nonetheless, “aided by its great cultural and religious heritage, it has the means to defend the centrality of the human person and to find the right balance between its twofold moral responsibility to protect the rights of its citizens and to assure assistance and acceptance to migrants”.[44]

Will our country find the right balance between our twofold moral responsibility to protect the rights of our citizens and to assure assistance and acceptance to …”???

fearing compromise of our “great cultural and religious heritage”, magaists, being watched over by president trump, are “affected by the ‘loss of that sense of responsibility for our brothers and sisters'” who are born, and have fallen down the slippery slope on the right fighting abortion, calling out all the more “make america great again”…

fearing compromise with a “great cultural and religious heritage”, progressives, being watched over by president-elect biden, have fallen down the slippery slope on the left defending abortion, and are “affected by the ‘loss of that sense of responsibility for our brothers and sisters'”, who are unborn, while calling out all the more “restore the soul of america”…

comfortables, afraid to move either to the left or right, long for a return of our “great cultural and religious heritage”; therefore we compromise ourselves and have fallen into the arms of clericalists, who watch over us, while all the while complaining that we are calling (out all the more,) throughout the night, preventing (them) from getting a good night’s sleep

Catholics, watched over by the LORD, are “‘aided by our great cultural and religious heritage'” as we keep calling out all the more, “Son of David, have pity on me!”, as we use the art of compromise to realize how far we can go from right to left without falling down the slippery slope!!!

Today’s Scriptures

For the LORD watches over the way of the just,…

“Son of David, have pity on me!”
